Daniel L Hertz, Jr - Founder, CEO 1958 - 2017
Seals Eastern was founded in 1958 by Daniel L Hertz, Jr., a mechanical
engineer and Army veteran. The Company was incorporated in 1960 as New
Jersey "C" corporation. Mr Hertz holds five US patents, was the 2007
recipient of the Melvin Mooney Award, served as a Chairman of the
American Chemical Society's Rubber Division, and has authored numerous
chapters and technical papers on
sealing technology.
From its humble beginnings, Seals Eastern quickly differentiated
itself in the market place by providing superior product quality and
customer service.
Our founder established an essential guiding principle that remains in
the Company's DNA to this day:

chemistry, thermodynamics, physics, and mechanics."

Daniel Hertz III started work in the rubber industry in 1978. Upon
graduating from the University of Colorado (Class of 1983), he joined
Seals Eastern and matured under the apprenticeship of the Company's
Founder. After nearly fourty years of rubber industry experience,
compiling and presenting numerous technical papers on rubber
technology, and earning two graduate degrees, Daniel Hertz III
consolidated ownership of Seals Eastern from the original four
partners and assumed leadership as CEO.
Daniel III continues to perpetuate the Company's technical prowess and
its essential guiding principle of "Rubber is an Engineering
Material". He currently guides a team of experienced industry
professionals whose combined experience tallies hundreds of years.
